ABOUT

I’m the founder of Jinx Media, and this is the bit where I list all the cool stuff I’ve done. I haven’t yet found a way to prevent it sounding insanely egotistical, but I’m working on it.

Described as the ‘Essex Auteur’ by Empire magazine, ‘The Tarantino of budget gore flicks for both style and dialogue’ by SFX, the ‘Essex Horror Auteur’ by the Guardian Guide and one of ‘the most promising British horror directors’ by Fangoria.

Creative copywriter on marketing campaigns ranging from independent features through to the True Blood S4 campaign for Fox International. Campaign for independent feature Hellbride prompted an article on the Horror Channel entitled “Is This the Greatest Tagline Ever?”

Uncredited script doctor for feature films on both sides of the Atlantic, including a fantastic 2021 release that’s currently around 85% certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes but I’m still not allowed to list on my CV.

Co-creator of the Death Tales series of films. Writer/director of several features including the highly acclaimed The Devil’s Music (winner of Best Independent Feature at the Festival of Fantastic Films).

Twelve years of lecturing experience in idea generation and screenwriting on courses such as the Television Production and Screen Media BA (Hons) and Creative Media Production Extended Diploma (Film & TV). My independently held ‘One Day Masterclasses’ regarding elements of screenwriting and idea generation have maintained 100% positive feedback from delegates and have regularly been described as ‘brilliant’.

In October 2020, the Kickstarter campaign for my musical feature film Powertool Cheerleaders vs the Boyband of the Screeching Dead reached the position of ‘Most Popular Film Kickstarter on the Planet’ out of the 74562 film projects that were live on Kickstarter at that time. The film itself premiered at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square on the closing night of the Frightfest festival 2022.

My live talks about filmmaking are regularly scheduled at film festivals. Two of them (Werewolves, Cheerleaders & Chainsaws and How Not to Make a Horror Movie) were also filmed and released online. My 2018 show Fear & Film was probably my favourite, and we took that one on a little tour around the country.

I was a speaker at TEDx in October 2017 with the talk “Childhood Fears are Awesome”. I regularly appear as a speaker at the brilliant London Screenwriters’ Festival, and was featured on BBC ONE News at 6 O’Clock and News at 10 O’Clock in January 2023 talking about independent horror filmmaking and the tenth anniversary of the Horror-on-Sea film festival.
