So, into another year already. Oh my God.
We’ve changed the layout of this site a bit, as you may have noticed if you’ve been here before. A few scrappy bits of the old layout may remain; apologies if you notice them, we’ll get them sorted eventually!
First big appointment of the new year is the fantastic Horror-on-Sea festival, of course. One of my favourite places in the world. There’s a brand new anthology movie called Virus Detected premiering on Friday 17th January. I wrote the chapter called Bad Penny, which is directed by the unstoppable Paul Cousins and stars my old friends Liza Keast and Megan Rose Buxton. Then, on Saturday 18th, I’ve got my new live talk Indie Horror vs Money, which features more advice about saving cash when filmmaking than anything I’ve ever done before.
Next up, on February 15th, I’ve doing a talk for Romancing the Gothic for their event Goths for Breakfast, which raises money for Magic Breakfast and helps provide school breakfasts for kids who need them. My talk will be at 1pm on their packed schedule and is called ‘Making HorrorMovies with No Money’. It’s a great day on a ‘pay what you want’ basis, so make sure you pick up a ticket and help somebody else pick up a breakfast.
There’ll be some more events later in the year that I’ll try desperately to remember to put on this website.
In other news, the screenplay for Chainsaw Fairytale is now complete and has actually (gasp) left the office so that people can read it. I’m still not 100% sure whether this will be produced in-house for Jinx, or whether it’ll find a home elsewhere. Either way, its a damn good script and I’m proud of it.
Powertool Cheerleaders vs the Boyband of the Screeching Dead continues its quest for world domination by cropping up on more and more streaming platforms. Some of the original links can be found here but there are new additions such as Tubi in the States and Fawesome TV here in the UK. If you haven’t seen it yet, I really hope you enjoy it. If you have seen it, please don’t forget to drop a review on your platforms of choice (and IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, etc.) as it *really* helps us out in terms of visibility.
I hope you’re all having an absolutely brilliant start to 2025.
